Thinking
Minecraft is one of the world's biggest entertainment brands, but scale also creates a challenge: fans have seen a lot of Minecraft merchandise. We saw an opportunity to explore a more fashion-led expression of the brand for older fans, partnering with an independent Australian label whose team didn't need to be taught why Minecraft mattered. Cool Shirtz were genuine players themselves, bringing years of fandom and a natural understanding of the game's humour, visual language and culture.
Execution
Working closely with Cool Shirtz and the Minecraft team, Merchantwise helped guide the label through its first licensed collaboration, supporting development and approvals while protecting the creative thinking that made the partnership special. The final collection drew inspiration from Minecraft's biomes, blocks, creatures, tools and textures to create pieces that felt designed from the game rather than simply branded with it.
A considered launch campaign extended that thinking into the real world, blending Minecraft imagery with fashion-led photography, animation and digital content. The collection was met with an exceptional response from fans, leading to a huge demand for repeat orders and a strong, ongoing partnership.
